Designed to bring clarity and transparency to a complex public process, the Yolo County Transportation District’s Annual Budget Report and Workplan translates numbers, policy, and planning into a document the public can actually understand.
Serving as the project’s lead editor, writer, photographer, and graphic designer, I worked closely with the Finance, Planning, and Operations departments to review and synthesize information from across the agency. I rewrote the majority of the content to make fiscal data and service plans approachable for residents, community partners, and stakeholders, while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and regulatory requirements.
Visually, the report was designed to feel clear, modern, and human. Original photography, captured by me and supervised interns, was paired with custom layouts, infographics, and data visualizations that align with the District’s brand and help readers easily compare year-over-year spending, understand funding priorities, and see how investments translate into real-world transportation services.
The result is an annual report that balances transparency with storytelling, transforming a required public document into an engaging, accessible resource that reinforces trust between the District and the communities it serves.
